Storage and retrieval machines successfully brought in – Würth Industrie Service's high-bay warehouse takes shape! 46 metres long, weighing 22,5 tonnes, manoeuvred 100 metres over the roofs: A true work requiring precision, weighing several tons on the heights of Drillberg. The excavations for building a new automated high-bay warehouse with additional 59,000 storage spaces covering more than 4,000 square metres started as early as July 2022. Last Monday, 16th October 2023, the first storage and retrieval machines were brought in to take over the automated storage and retrieval of pallets in the warehouse. The expansion of the state-of-the-art logistics centre for industrial supplies in Europe has laid the foundation for the further growth of Würth Industrie Service GmbH & Co. KG, both at national and international level. The excavations for building a new automated high-bay warehouse with additional 59,000 storage spaces covering more than 4,000 square metres started at the end of July 2022. The official ground-breaking ceremony was held on Thursday, 4th August, 2022 marking the symbolic go-ahead for the construction. Around 30 invited guests, including Nina Warken, Member of the German Bundestag CDU/CSU, Christoph Schauder, District Administrator of Main-Tauber-Kreis, Manuela Zahn, 1st Deputy Mayor of Bad Mergentheim, Marcel Stephan, Head of Department for Economic Development & Urban Marketing of Bad Mergentheim, the planners and engineers involved and the Management of Würth Industrie Service, celebrated the milestone of the company. Fulfilling the objective of greenhouse gas-neutral energy supply on the hills of Drillberg: Würth Industrie Service commissions an additional photovoltaic system. Climate change and the consequential natural disasters have already controlled the world, thus stressing the urgency of achieving climate neutrality even more. The use of renewable energy instead of fossil fuels is the most sought-after solution on the path to achieving greenhouse gas-neutrality. Würth Industrie Service GmbH & Co. KG, an expert in the field of C-parts management for manufacturing industry customers, intends to lead by example and not only compensate for the rising CO2 footprint but also reduce it sustainably at the Bad Mergentheim location by implementing smart solutions. The company is contributing towards climate protection with the recent commissioning of an additional photovoltaic system. The sprawling plant covering an area of 2,500 square metres has an output of around 480 kWp, which equates to an estimated output of around 415,000 kWh per year. This output is enough to supply around 140 single-family households with electricity per year. Move forward together – Increase productivity in intralogistics through the new RFID system iPLACER® The partners STILL GmbH and Würth Industrie Service GmbH & Co. KG have shown that Industry 4.0 can function smoothly at the forklifts and industrial trucks specialist’s plant in Hamburg.
