Defining moments of this year

25th anniversary of Würth Industrie Service

We celebrated the 25th anniversary of the company on 13th January 2024 and looked back on an impressive development. Founded in 1999 at Bad Mergentheim with only 80 employees, today we are a European market leader in supply of small parts and employ over 6,600 employees in over 40 countries. What started in an abandoned barracks is now a state-of-the-art logistics centre that supplies to over 20,000 customers daily.

25 years of customer proximity – Kärcher relies on our supply solutions

Alfred Kärcher SE & Co. KG has been relying on our Kanban supply solutions to manage its production processes efficiently since over 25 years. Every year, around 95 million parts are delivered and over 4,500 Kanban bins ensure continuous supply at more than 45 locations.

We made something special for our employees on the occasion of the 25th anniversary: A 380-page anniversary book, which not only captures the numbers, dates and facts, but also illuminates insights by colleagues, cherished anecdotes and events that have made an impression on the company in the last 25 years.

Expansion of the General Management with the appointment of Helmut Eisenkolb

Helmut Eisenkolb, who was the Head of Logistics since 2017, became a part of the General Management of the company on 1st July 2024. Eisenkolb, who was working in various leadership roles internationally within the Würth Group, took over the responsibility for the Logistics department. With many years of experience in the strategic development of logistics centres and expertise in innovative technologies, he will be able to contribute significantly to the future viability of the company and drive the transformation of logistics further.

25 years of growth

Commissioning of the new high-bay warehouse

An important milestone in the 25-year history of the company was achieved with the commissioning of the new automated high bay warehouse. With construction dimensions at a record level, rarely seen in this overall complexity, the project is a significant milestone in the company's 25-year history

Digital interaction point on the Kanban rack

The new iTERMINAL enables the Kanban shelf to be completely digitized directly on site. The screen shows all information about the Kanban shelf and, in combination with the iDISPLAY, enables article searches using pick-by-light.

iDISPLAY reaches new heights

Added functions for maximum increase in productivity

Autonomous display, which shows all the information about items, filling quantities, availability and fillings directly at the storage location? The digital shelf label displays all item information, enables reordering at the push of a button and a pick-by-light function.

CPS®KANBAN flex family is growing!

A mobile Kanban rack with up to 1000 kg load-bearing capacity, or one that can be closed to avoid dust? The CPS®KANBAN flex mobile und CPS®KANBAN flex protect variants are setting new standards for the supply of the future.

ORSY®mat is now mobile

Material supply up to the workstation: As part of a feasibility study for enabling material supply right up to the workstation, Würth Industrie Service and W. Gessmann GmbH are presenting an innovative solution. The mobile ORSY®mat, along with the autonomous robot GESSbot Gb350, allows for a decentralised and flexible material dispensing.

We celebrated our 25th anniversary at our annual company party on 15th June 2024 in line with the motto “Best WIShes – Cheers to 25 years!”. We toasted the success of the past years together and celebrated our milestones with pomp.

Helau and Alaaf! - We had fun celebrating carnival even this year at Drillberg! Our employees came together wearing creative costumes and enjoyed the carnival atmosphere with delightful music and delicious Berliners.

“Back to the future – 25 years of WIS“

On 20th June 2024, our apprenticeship batch of 2022 celebrated the 25th anniversary of the company with “Azubishow” (a show by apprentices). True to the motto “Back to the future – 25 years of WIS”, our apprentices offered an entertaining mix of performances for around 150 guests, consisting of parents, apprentices, trainers and the Management.

73 participants from various departments of the Würth Group, including Würth Industrie Service, Würth Elektronik, Würth IT and Würth Germany, formed the second biggest running group of the 6th Igersheim Company Run. A perfect event, which brought our motto #bettertogether to life!

Expert forum C-Parts management 2024

“Shaping change. Moving forward together.”

On 11th and 12th June, 2024, the seventh Expert forum C-Parts management took place with 400 participants from 8 countries attending the event. Experts from various industries shed light on the current challenges and solutions in production and operating materials supply. Topics like industry 4.0, digitalisation, sustainability and future of work were discussed by distinguished speakers like Benjamin Würth and Prof. Dr. Henner Gimpel. The forum offered not only valuable thought-provoking impulses, but also the opportunity to experience live the innovative solutions and technologies, which are making an impact on C-Parts supply of the future.

Production meets Logistics

Key factors for the connected factory of the future

On 23rd April 2024, the event “Production meets Logistics“ offered intensive insights into the future of connected production and logistics. Around 40 participants, including experts from industry, technology and lean management, discussed key topics like automation, artificial intelligence and digital connectivity. Expert lectures and a tour of the logistics centre with self-learning robots and exoskeletons offered tangible insights into industry 4.0.

Innovation meets Industry

Dinner to focus on the future trends

The dinner event “Innovation meets Industry“ organised at Reinhold Würth Haus in Bad Mergentheim on 7th May 2024 offered medium-sized companies a platform to discuss the future trends in Industry 4.0. Around 20 participants discussed topics like artificial intelligence, robotics and big data and also were able to shed light on challenges like shortage of skilled labour and climate change.

Automotive Symposium

The future of the automobile industry

The second Automotive Symposium took place from 11th to 12th September in Bad Mergentheim, where 35 decision makers of the automobile industry came together to discuss the future of the industry. E-mobility, sustainability and challenges in the transformation of the automotive industry were the topics in focus.

Supply Chain 4 Future

Shaping the future of industrial supply together

Our event “Supply Chain 4 Future” took place on 8th and 9th October 2024 in Bad Mergentheim. Over these two days, experts from the industry discussed the trendsetting solutions in procurement and logistics. Live demos on robotics and automation as well as an exclusive tour through one of the most modern logistics centres in Europe were the highlights of the event.

Technical seminar - Occupational safety and hazardous materials management

Staying true to the motto “We make ourselves strong for your security”, interesting expert lectures and workshops were organised from 12th to 13th March 2024 at the Industrial Park, where solution approaches to occupational safety and hazardous materials management were presented.

Faster Academy - Adhesive bonding

In the technical seminar “Faster Academy - Adhesive bonding” that took place on 26th November 2024, the focus was on adhesive technology as the key technology of the 21st century. The participants received practical insights into the foundations, applications and quality assurance of the adhesive technology, supplemented by a tour of the accredited testing laboratory.

LogiMAT 2024

From 19th to 21st March 2024, we presented future-oriented solutions for efficient C-Parts management at the LogiMAT in Stuttgart, staying true to the motto “Shaping change together”. The trade fair highlight was our solution CPS®miSELF – one system for all parts – A, B and C parts.

SMM 2024

At the SMM 2024 in Hamburg, we presented innovative supply solutions for the maritime industry. From 3rd to 6th September, our experts presented intelligent systems for optimised C-Parts Management. Among these were automated replenishment management, digital Kanban racks and innovative workplace supply solutions.

Industry Pulse

We welcomed 75 participants in the Porsche Experience Centre, Leipzig on 22nd October 2024 for the event "Industry Pulse" under the motto “Shaping tomorrow together”. Customised solutions for efficient C-Parts management including ORSY®mat vending machines, RFID Kanban solutions as well as special parts and technical industrial product range were in focus.

At the five region-oriented trade fairs, everything revolved around bolted connections. At a joint stand with baier & michels, we presented innovative connection technologies along with intelligent supply systems for maximum security.

Responsible for 25 years

New photovoltaic system at Drillberg

A powerful gesture for sustainable energy supply: More than 2,000 modules on 4,860 square metres with an output of over 1,000 kWp. The photovoltaic system has been in operation since springtime and is one of the biggest facade systems in the DACH region, contributing significantly to sustainable energy supply.

Donation Tour

Donation Tour - Together for the region

This year, we are continuing our tradition of supporting important social organisations in the region as part of our annual donation tour. With a total donation of 4,600 euros, we are supporting the parents' initiative “Regenbogen” for children with leukaemia and tumours in Würzburg, the association of friends and supporters of the Caritas Hospital Bad Mergentheim and the “Tafel” in Bad Mergentheim (a German food bank organization) - a clear sign of solidarity and regional ties.

Special Olympics Winter games 2024

Staying true to the motto #TogetherStrong, the National Winter Games - Special Olympics Germany were organised from 29th January to 2nd February in Thuringia. 50 employees from various companies of the Würth Group including nine apprentices from Würth Industrie Service volunteered for the event.

Blood donation drive

Since 2007, we have been regularly organising blood donation drives in cooperation with the German Red Cross. On 12th March an the 28th November 2024, around 70 employees participated in the blood donation drive and took on the responsibility as a strong community.

Diversity charter

Recognition, appreciation and inclusion of diversity in the professional world: We signed the Diversity charter in April 2024 and supported the initiatives along with around 5,900 other companies and institutions with a total of around 15 million employees.

All about IT: pure practical insights!

The "IT-Praxistag" (IT practical experience day) organised on 5th March 2024 allowed students and graduates of (business) information technology to experience the multi-facetted world of IT at Würth Industrie Service.

On the occasion of "Programming Day“, 20 schoolchildren got the opportunity to dive into the world of software development at our company. They gained fascinating insights into the world of IT: from the programming language C# to practical exercises like creating source code and programming games.

At our information evening, held on 17th and 18th April 2024, schoolchildren and their parents got the opportunity to gain exciting insights into our varied apprenticeship and study opportunities. In a casual atmosphere, the participants could clarify their queries and take the initial steps towards their professional future – entirely in line with the motto “Apprenticeship. With a future.”.

At the nationwide Girls’ day event organised at our company, 20 schoolgirls got a taste of the professional world on 23rd April 2024. Here, they got a glimpse of the stereotypical male professions - beyond the classical distribution of roles.

On 2nd September, 70 new apprentices and dual studies’ students started towards their professional future at our company. After the kick-off, it was time to get acquainted with each other during the outdoor days from 18th to 19th September 2024, outside of the work routine, while doing common activities and teambuilding exercises.

In March 2024, we welcomed the representatives of the Regional council, Stuttgart at Drillberg for an exchange about career orientation and securing skilled workers. Meaning of quality apprenticeship and collaboration between companies and educational institutions were the topics in focus.

Hike and visit to an exhibition

On Saturday, 25th May 2024, we had organised a hike, which combined nature, culture and business in a special way. Nature lovers and history buffs were happy to be a part of a wonderful hike and exclusive visits to two fascinating exhibitions “Leadership culture around Trillberg – then and now” and “Glimpses into the history of tank development”.

Olympic Games in Bad Mergentheim - MiKi Sommerlager 2024

Following the principle of “WIS kids at the Olympic games”, this year’s summer was a sporty holiday experience for the children of the employees. Around 60 children of our employees aged 6 to 11 participated in a varied programme in the MiKi Sommerlager 2024.

Hike along with a visit to the exhibition and a logistics tour

Nature, culture and business in one? On 11th October 2024, we organised a traditional hike on occasion of the 17th Tauber valley trail. Nature lovers and those interested in culture and history could rejoice in nature and enjoy two permanent exhibitions at Drillberg.

25 years of being an innovation pioneer – with our holistic production and operating materials supply, we have made an impression as a C-Parts partner in the study titled "Digital Champions 2024" conducted by DEUTSCHLAND TEST and FOCUS MONEY and have emerged as the industry winner with first place in the category “building materials industry and building chemistry”.
