Our apprenticeship as a materials tester (m/f/d) offers you an unique opportunity to work in a highly specialised field and develop a sound understanding of material properties.

Grab the opportunity to become an important part of our team and help to ensure that quality standards are always maintained at the highest level. We look forward to getting to know you!

Apprenticeship as a materials tester (m/f/d)

The apprenticeship as a materials tester (m/f/d) in the laboratory of Würth Industrie Service is characterised by a great variety. In addition to sample preparation, you will not only get to know and understand a large number of test methods, such as hardness testing, tensile testing, torque and friction testing, material analysis, metallography, etc., but also carry them out independently. This can be undertaken both in normal day-to-day testing and in special projects. Not only your trainers, but also experienced colleagues will be available to help and advice you at all times. The focus here is not only on professional development, but also on personal development. Your analytical and problem-solving skills are encouraged, as are your self-confidence and independence.

After all, we train people!

As an apprentice as materials tester (m/f/d) in the laboratory at Würth Industrie Service, you will be a fully-fledged team member right from the start and work on an equal footing with your colleagues. Your opinions and analyses are not only heard, but also valued.

The practical training in the laboratory is supplemented by external runs in co-operating companies, for e.g. to deepen the knowledge of manufacturing processes and heat treatment of steel, and by classes at the Kerschensteinerschule in Stuttgart to impart the necessary background knowledge.

Tasks as a materials tester (m/f/d)

After successfully completing your apprenticeship as a materials tester (m/f/d), there are many opportunities open to you in the laboratory of Würth Industrie Service. Not only does testing play a central role in day-to-day business, but also the involvement in and independent execution of interesting customer projects. Some of these are also carried out together with the customer directly on the test device. You will be directly responsible for planning, implementing and finalising such projects.

With the necessary experience, it is also possible to take on responsibility of one of the specialist areas after the apprenticeship. In this case, you will be responsible for proper testing of certain methods. This includes creation and optimisation of work instructions, validation of test methods and purchase of test equipment. You will be responsible for expanding and constantly improving the area. You will be the first point of contact for colleagues in case of any questions and potential problems.

Another major area is failure analysis. As a testing service provider, the laboratory of Würth Industrie Service offers its customers a full range of failure analyses. This requires you to compile all relevant information on the failure, formulate a failure hypothesis, commission appropriate tests such as a fracture analysis using a scanning electron microscope and then write a report on the possible origin of the failure.

The growth opportunities in the laboratory are very diverse thanks to the flat hierarchies. As a result, it is also possible to further develop the existing quality management system or to shape the next generation of materials testers after completing the relevant training as a trainer.
